Olena, a 68-year-old woman from Kyiv, spent February 24th surrounded by her family — with her grandchildren and children. The morning was filled with sounds that at first seemed distant, but soon turned into loud explosions. At that moment, she was certain that the international community would intervene and the war would end soon. However, as the reality became clearer, Olena realized that action was needed. She decided to join the volunteer center “Charivni Lastivky” (“Magic Swallows”) to contribute to supporting the country. While weaving camouflage nets, Olena felt that she was not only helping the defenders but also creating something meaningful for her nation.
