Halyna's story is not only a story about survival in occupied Ivankiv. This is also a story about the rescue of paintings by the famous Ukrainian artist Maria Prymachenko.

Already on the first day of the invasion, the enemy came very close to Ivankiv. There was actually no time left. And Halyna, who worked in a local museum, hid the most expensive – 14 paintings in a huge tub, which was also an exhibit.

The next day, the museum was hit by shells. The fire started. But people managed to pull out the most valuable things from the fire, including paintings.

They hid it in themselves, then took it to a safer place. And later these paintings could already be seen in expositions.

But not in Ivankiv, because the local museum was destroyed.

Many of the exhibits are now stored simply in an ordinary room. Halyna believes that the museum will reappear in the settlement and the work of her life will be accessible to everyone.
