Valentyna Aleksandrova is a university lecturer from Kyiv. She spent the first days of the war in her apartment and did not want to leave, despite her daughter’s insistence, because home for her is the memories of her husband, comfort, books and family belongings. During the war, she started keeping a diary, in which memories of peaceful life in Odesa, Yalta, Yevpatoria, Alupka, places associated with family, leisure and work are intertwined with the events of the war. Her essays have been published in Ukrainian language and literature journals. Her work became her support and salvation.
