Olha Zaitseva, principal of Lyceum No. 98 in the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv, met February 24, 2022, with anxiety in her heart. The year before, she had made grandiose plans for the development of her school, but the war made its own adjustments. When she heard the first explosions, Olha immediately got ready, called her family and went to work. She went with the only thought in mind – that the school would survive. The lyceum became a refuge for those who needed help. People came to the shelter with children, the elderly who could not move quickly. School staff laid sports mats to provide at least minimal comfort. The cooks and teachers prepared food together.
