“I heard someone screaming from under the ground. I followed that sound. I found it. It took me two hours to dig out the girl”

Anatolii Harbich’s story sounds like a scary documentary. It is as if it tells about the events of World War II. The man knows by experience what the occupation is. He knows what an air bomb dropped right on the roof of your house from a place is. He knows what it’s like to run under artillery fire. But that’s just the beginning.

Once, Anatolii was hiding from explosions in the entrance hall of a house. He was just passing by and hid there to save his life. Suddenly, he heard a woman screaming from under the rubble. The man spent two hours trying to get to her. To save her. And, finally, he succeeded. As it turned out, he had saved his future wife.

When they decided to flee from Mariupol, another terrible misfortune almost befell them. The Russians found the Ukrainian flag in Anatoly’s belongings. They decided to execute the man for his native symbols. But they changed their decision at the last moment… Here is a first-hand account of the dreadful occupation and evacuation from hell.
