Kateryna, from Kyiv, felt the danger become a part of her everyday life from the very first days of the war. She lived on the Left Bank, and very soon explosions and constant alarms became a terrifying reality. Her neighborhood was often targeted, and it was especially scary when rockets hit the thermal power plant nearby. Kateryna was afraid of every sound in the sky, every news about the shelling. She told her story as part of the Heart of Azovstal project, which supports the military who defended Mariupol from the russian invasion in 2022.
