Roman Oleksiv

"I can't believe I'm home"

Eight-year-old Roman Oleksiv has returned to Ukraine from Germany. The boy was in Dresden for rehabilitation after being injured in a missile attack on Vinnytsia on 14 July 2022. Then, his mother brought her son to the doctor. The woman and the doctor died. On that day, the child received 45% of the burns on the surface of his body, the most severe fourth-degree burns on his back. He arrived at the hospital in an extremely serious condition. Despite the disappointing prognosis, the doctors managed to stabilise the child's condition, which allowed Roma to be transported abroad for further treatment. He was admitted to The University Hospital Dresden, one of the largest burn hospitals in Germany.
