Nataliia is the director of the Palace of Culture in Borodianka. On the very first day of the war, she began to equip a shelter in the basement so that people could hide. Nataliia tells us about the first tank that entered Borodianka and turned around right next to her house. She recalls the battles that the villagers put up against the occupiers, the horrific enemy bombardment. It was then that her father-in-law was wounded. Together with the wounded man, Nataliia’s family left for Lviv.

A month later, she returned to Borodianka. And the struggle to restore the Palace of Culture began. It was mutilated, the stages were destroyed, there were no windows, and there were burned-out high-rise buildings opposite. But the incredible love for the work, determination and help of local residents allowed the Palace to be resuscitated.
