Yehor learned about the full-scale Russian invasion at school. At first, the boy helped adults at the checkpoint. He carried and reinforced the place with car tyres. When a column of Russian tanks moved towards the town, he had to run away. Later, after living in his native Enerhodar under occupation, Yehor's family decided to move to Zaporizhzhia. The boy had to go to school, but his parents had no intention of sending him to study under Russian rule.
