For Volodymyr Korpusenko, the history of war began in 2014 when he fought in the ATO zone. He went through the hottest spots, including the battle for Donetsk airport. He was wounded and returned to civilian life. It was this experience that helped him to unite people from the local community to defend the villages of Dibrova and Kozyntsi during the invasion in 2022. He organised a local territorial defence and developed an action plan that took into account the specifics of the situation.

Volodymyr recalls how the Russian military tried to advance into their village but failed. The military unit, towards which the occupiers were already advancing, became a separate challenge for the local community. Conscripts were also stationed at the facility. Locals fed them and brought provisions to the unit as long as it was possible.

After the de-occupation of the region, Volodymyr initiated the creation of a local volunteer centre. This allowed people to feel involved in a great cause - the fight for freedom. Volodymyr emphasises that volunteering helps people to break away from the negative and feel that they can make a difference. The man notes that each item created by the hands of local residents becomes a symbol of support and hope for the military at the front. People have put their hearts and souls into these things, sums up Volodymyr Korpusenko.
