"My granddaughter was sitting next to her deceased mother and called her"

The mother of my two granddaughters was only 25 years old when she died. I still can’t hold back my tears, as I recall this.

In February 2015, Marina and her daughter Maya came under fire in Bakhmut. Everything happened near the house, but they did not have time to hide from the shells. Marina was killed by a fragment. Maya sat next to her deceased mother and said that she was calling her mother, but she did not respond.

Maya was then wounded in the head, leg and spine. She could not walk; she underwent two operations. She was constantly laying on IVs and dreamed of walking. And two years later she returned to her class in school. She says she missed the class and her girlfriends.
