“The war took away my dancing”

For two years now, Dasha has been wandering around the country, searching for a safe place to live.  She grew up in Kurakhove and attended dancing lessons there. But the war turned her life upside down; it separated her from her family and forced her out of her home.

The town has been under heavy Russian shelling for two years now. Daria terribly misses her local dance studio.

Daria told her story on New Year’s Eve at the Emerald City Social Rehabilitation Center. The girl’s dream has remained unchanged since the beginning of the invasion: to reunite her family and bring peace back to her hometown.
