The village of Kolonshchyna is located next to the Kyiv - Chop highway. It is twenty kilometres from the capital. The street on which Olha Yaruta lives leads to this very road. So she was one of the first to see Russian tanks.

Throughout the occupation, Olha rescued pets left behind by those who left. She fed cats, dogs, pigs, and chickens. She kept running between houses during the shelling.

After the liberation of Kyiv region, she joined the local volunteer movement. Olha and her fellow villagers weave camouflage nets. The women get up to work every day and put a piece of their souls into each product.
