Tetiana Dmytruk lost her son Serhii during shelling. In April 2022, shells hit the yard and house of the Dmytruks in the village of Rozdolne, Donetsk region. Tetiana’s husband was seriously injured and trapped under the rubble. The woman had to dig him out on her own. 

Serhii, a kind and caring young man who always helped others, left this world at the age of 28. The loss of her son was an overwhelming blow. Friends of the deceased and fellow villagers supported the couple during the most difficult times, helped with the funeral and took them out of the dangerous region. That is how the family ended up in Odesa. 

Tetiana tries to support her husband, who is disabled.  She strives to be strong, but at night, memories of her loss and what she has been through deprive her of sleep and peace. The woman told her story at the city’s humanitarian hub.
