The story of the wife of an Azovstal defender: how 21 years of love endured the trials of war and captivity.

They met in Crimea 21 years ago, got married, and lived an ordinary happy life until the war took her husband’s homeland away. When Crimea was annexed, Maksym couldn’t just watch his land being taken, and he went to defend the country. For three months, his wife waited for phone calls from unknown numbers, each time freezing in fear of hearing something terrible. Then came captivity after Azovstal, uncertainty, and the hope for a quick exchange due to his injury. Now they are together again, but the war has changed them both — he paints to calm himself, she crochets toys for his comrades who are still waiting for release. And most importantly — she has learned not to ask questions that might bring him back into the hell of memories.
