Convoys of Russian machines drove into Buryn city, Sumy region, a few hours after breaking through the border. For almost a month, Kateryna Molyboh, an ambulance paramedic, practically did not take off her uniform! So that enemy snipers saw the doctors from a distance and did not shoot at them.
One night, an obstetrician-gynecologist called on the phone. The doctor said that she had a serious patient. A woman in late pregnancy, the child had already developed oxygen starvation, and we needed to save at least the mother! The woman’s three previous pregnancies ended in miscarriage. Kateryna accepted the challenge without hesitation! For she believed that she could save both!
The ambulance had to drive through dozens of enemy checkpoints during the curfew. They could be shot without warning. Muzzles of machine guns and tanks “looked” towards the car all the way. We moved too slowly, the doctors were constantly stopped and checked. With each stop, the ambulance missed a chance to save a child.
