Alona realised that war was close when she saw a plane burning and falling in the first days of the invasion. It exploded behind the village of Trypillia, but people felt the ground under their feet tremble.
In the first weeks, it was very difficult to get food. There was only one shop. They would give one loaf of bread to a person.
Alona works at the Kyiv Regional Archaeological Museum in Trypillia. She sees people coming to learn their own history. To get to know what happened. And to feel connected to what is happening now.
