Nataliia But is originally from Kostiantynivka. Two years ago, she left the city and has not returned since. Her father remained there — in the most dangerous district, which constantly suffers from shelling. The girl follows the news and knows:  russian strikes are becoming ever stronger.

Now Nataliia lives in Uman, in the Cherkasy region. At first, it was very difficult to adapt — new people, a new life from scratch. But later she found friends, a community of displaced people.

Nataliia studies in the 8th grade and is finishing art school. She draws, but admits:  the war affects her creativity. Sometimes inspiration disappears, sometimes gloomy pictures appear on paper, nothing like her usual style. Drawing, walks in nature, communication with loved ones and friends help her hold on.

She told her story during the program “Peaceful Rest for the Children of Ukraine” in Zakarpattia, organized by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.
