A week after the start of the full-scale invasion, a missile hit Halyna’s house. The woman, her daughter and grandson miraculously survived. In order to avoid contact with the occupiers, Halyna decided to move to her dacha, but who knew that after the liberation of Kherson, the enemy would retreat there. She had to live under occupation for another year. She remembers that time as a nightmare, robberies and arbitrariness of the russian military. On the verge of despair, Halyna decided to escape, but to find herself back in Ukraine, the 70-year-old woman had to travel halfway across Europe. Now Halyna works at the Vyshyvanka dlia tanka volunteer centre and runs a patriotic blog on TikTok, which has more than 4,000 followers.
