The whole audience gave her a standing ovation, even the judges. It was the first competition in her life for seven-year-old Sasha Pascal. This has never happened before in rhythmic gymnastics in Ukraine. After all, Sasha performed with a prosthesis - a year before the competition, the girl lost her leg.
In May 2022, rockets were fired at a peaceful neighbourhood in the village of Zatoka in Odesa region. Sasha Pascal and her mother were at the dacha. At the moment of the explosion, the girl was thrown by the blast wave. The child's leg was crushed by a concrete slab. Sasha has a severe fracture of the arm, a head injury, severe bruises and internal injuries. Doctors were most concerned about the possibility of severe concussion. But the biggest disaster was the injury to her leg, which had to be amputated.
Sasha underwent rehabilitation in Austria and learnt to walk with a prosthesis. And two days after returning to Ukraine, Sasha came to training.
