On February 24, Olha was supposed to go to Kyiv to apply to university. The war cancelled all plans, and her sense of duty didn’t let her leave until mid-summer — Olha was working in the social services. She watched the city being destroyed, and her mother died under unknown circumstances. Her brother was killed at the front. But Olha found the strength to go on living and eventually did enroll in university — only, she still cannot say goodbye to Bakhmut. Her hometown remains in her heart forever, as does the hope of one day returning there.
