Borodianka was on the main route of the russian offensive on Kyiv. The village came under massive shelling in early March 2022. For several days, russian planes bombed the main street of the village, which is called Central Street. Several high-rise buildings were almost completely destroyed.
Debris smashed the roof of the inclusive resource center. The institution worked for children with special educational needs. During the occupation, the russians turned the center into an armory. They even burned documents there to cook their own food.
The director of the center, Tetiana Riabushchyts, lost her father in this war. The russian military tortured her husband to death. Despite what she had been through, Tetiana began laboriously rebuilding the center almost immediately after the liberation of Kyiv region.
