Iryna Demchuk from Kyiv met the beginning of the full-scale invasion at her parents’ house near Kyiv. She decided to stay there with her child, hoping that the war would end quickly. However, events unfolded tragically: during the first month of the war, she lost a classmate, who was a scout, and another close acquaintance. When the situation in the Kyiv region deteriorated, the family decided to evacuate to the west of Ukraine. They stayed in Rivne for two months, but returned to Kyiv after the de-occupation of Irpin and Bucha.
