Liubov recalls the terrible day when her life was divided into “before” and “after”. In the first days of the war, it was hard to believe that reality was so cruel. Shots and explosions came closer, and on March 8, tragedy knocked on her door. That day, feeling something imminent, Liubov decided to hide in the basement. She did not know that this decision would save her life. As soon as she went downstairs, a powerful explosion destroyed her house. Stones and dust fell from the basement, the door was blown open, but miraculously the roof held. Despite the loss, Liubov did not despair. Every morning she returned to her ruins: to milk the cow, feed the chickens, and cook for herself and others. Volunteers cleared the rubble and helped rebuild the walls.
