Ruslana Demchuk is a Doctor of Cultural Studies, Professor at the Department of Cultural Studies of the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.” Her life is inseparably connected with the village of Legedzyne. Together with her husband, an archaeologist, she revived student field practice here. From their findings, the local museum grew. Ruslana’s daughter also took her first steps at these excavations; with the start of the war, she stood in defense of the state and was wounded in the Kupiansk direction. For Ruslana, Legedzyne is a second home, a place of strength and recovery during the war. As a scholar who dedicated her life to researching the development of civilizations, she is convinced: the most important thing Ukraine has managed to do is preserve its national identity and open itself to the world. And now this achievement cannot be taken away.
