Sasha was born on the March 4th, 2022. His sister Mariia died on March 13th, 2022. She was 20 years old.
On March 3rd, together with her husband, Vladlena, the children's mother, went to the maternity hospital in the centre of Mariupol. The day before the air strike on the hospital, on the 8th of March, the family moved to another shelter, and this saved their lives.
Meanwhile, the eldest daughter Maria and her grandmother stayed on the Left Bank. They were not admitted to the only shelter that was more or less solid because of their dog. This fact became fatal for the girl. Mariia and her grandmother went to another basement. The girl heated up some food and went outside with Charley.
“It was relatively quiet, but a few minutes later a russian plane dropped a bomb on the house. Everyone who was in the yard was buried under the debris. My Mom survived because she was in the basement, but daughter died, and because of the intense hostilities, she was lying under the rubble until the end of May. When the body was finally recovered, a young man and his parents recognised my daughter. At the Starokrymske cemetery, they dug a trench and buried her under a number in a large grave. I hope that when Mariupol seized back, I will be able to rebury her," Vladlena, a resident of Mariupol, says.
