We came in late July 2014, literally with the last train, one might say. When on the train, some people were lying on the floor; the lights were on and off. A few days later the railway track was blown up.
We decided to leave, because we heard the explosions, and I have a child who is very emotional. Even a loud voice could cause an attack. Those attacks can only be suppressed by ambulance and resuscitation. He has had health issues from his birth; it is congenital. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus. There is some development impairment. Challenges start literally as soon as we leave home, as he cannot walk well.
We have meals together, write together, and attend to ourselves together. We can say that he cannot be separate from me; I cannot leave him even for five minutes.
If there is no medicine, he will not be able to breathe and live. If there are no pills, he starts to have breathing problems. It was vitally important, so we took the documents, and a whole suitcase of them accumulated over eight years, and medicines enough for the first period, and came to Kyiv. We have been everywhere.
During those eight years, my nervous system has become not very stable, and this affects the child too. If he sees that I am stressed, he starts to feel stress as well. But while I can somehow cope with it, he can have an attack because of this. That is, in addition to medications, he needs a calm and quiet environment. Otherwise, it is difficult to calm him down if he goes for a nerve storm. He has problems precisely because of nervousness, of emotional nature.
I dream about peace to come. Most likely, we will not be able to come back home immediately as we depend on medication. So, I dream to see us not being dependent on medicines, and to see my child recovering, becoming healthy. This is my biggest wish.
