Nataliia Yuvchenko is the head of the Konotop Emergency Medical Aid Station and an emergency medicine doctor. On the morning of February 24, 2022, the station received the first calls about the wounded: both civilians and soldiers. The russian army tried to approach the town on the first day of the full-scale war. Nataliia recalls how a battle broke out near the station.

Konotop itself was not occupied, but the surrounding villages and settlements suffered in the first weeks of the war. Throughout March 2022, Nataliia and her team took part in the organisation of evacuation corridors, accompanying the wounded to hospitals. They worked in an environment where communication was often lost and access to medical care was limited.

Unfortunately, the war also claimed the lives of medical staff. Nataliia recalls her colleague, paramedic Mykhailo Loshak. The man was shot dead by the russian military. A memorial plaque commemorated the medical professional, which became a symbol of the losses suffered by the medical community of Konotop.
