"The back of our apartment looked out over Sartana. It was always scary to sleep in the bedroom. On February 24, 2022, the windows were shaking. It seemed like the wall was going to fall down," Iryna recalls.
When the heavy shelling started, Iryna and her husband went to fetch her parents. Her mother managed to take her medicines with her, and her father took a package of documents.
"Dad was wearing slippers. Mum was wearing a light jacket. Their cat Venya was dragged out by the skin. At that moment, there was an explosion. Venia runs away. We left without him," says Iryna.
