Svitlana had to flee the war twice – first in 2015 from occupied Donetsk, and again from Mariupol, which was bombed by the invaders. After a bomb hit a neighbouring house and then a bomb shelter, it became clear that she had to leave the city at any cost. The woman walked 15 kilometres under shelling, carrying only her medicines, some documents and an icon. She still has a railway ticket from the rescue train that brought her to Poltava.
