During the occupation of Kherson, the Russian military tortured Aliona's husband, a lieutenant colonel, commander of the 3rd company of the military unit A 7360.

Vitaliy was detained on March 27. In the afternoon, nine armed occupiers broke into his house with Vitaliy, who had been beaten beyond recognition.

"I saw Vitalik's face; it was black, his jaw was completely broken, blood was pouring out of his cut eyebrow and filling his eyes. His face was a mess. His jacket was soaked in blood," says his wife, Aliona.

She and her son were also taken for interrogation with bags on their heads, having previously stolen valuables from the house: a laptop, phones, her grandmother's gold crowns and all her savings, as well as the weapons they found.
