Marek Petras: “This aggression is Russia’s serious geostrategic mistake”

Marek Petras, Director of the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, explained why Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine came as a surprise to the whole world, what the Ukrainian people dazed Western countries with, and how the Russian propaganda was preparing the ground for the military aggression against our country. Mr Petras also made a prediction as to when and under what circumstances this terrible war could end.

Through the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, I would like to pass a clear message to Ukrainians, who are very close to us, that there are expectations in Europe that after this war there will be a different Ukraine than the one we have known so far. Without doubt, a European Ukraine, a Ukraine that breaks with a multi-vectoral approach, a democratic Ukraine, Ukraine in the system of values from economic ties, institutional ties, will be fully integrated into Europe and Euro-Atlantic structures.
