Tetiana Khlaponina’s family spent eight months under occupation in Balakliia, Kharkiv region.  Most of the time, they were in the basement.  Tetiana, her young children, and her mother witnessed the destruction caused by the war and experienced the constant fear that came with it. Later, the family moved to Rivne.  It was there that Tetiana first noticed her daughter Albina was not hearing all sounds.  Initially, they thought her hearing problems were due to the stressful circumstances of the war.  However, after a medical examination, they discovered that Albina had congenital hearing loss.  The family needed an auditory prosthesis, which they could not afford. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation responded to their call for help.
