Myroslav's mother died during the shelling in Mariupol in March 2022. He was eight at the time. He and his younger brother Yehor managed to take shelter, but their mother did not. At that moment, not one but several missiles hit the 9-storey building.
Relatives took the children. A few weeks later, the boys' father made his way to Mariupol. He was able to find his sons and take them to Kyiv. Back then, Myroslav recalls, his father managed to rescue the others - all those who could fit into the minibus.
The boy told his war story during his rehabilitation under the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation's Peaceful Holidays for Children of Ukraine project.
