Danyil's father, Anatolii Korniienko, went to the front on the first day of war. He had sent his family to Poland. But Dania with his mom and sister have returned home afterwards.
The boy recalls his happiest moments: when his father managed to get away on vacation for a few days. And that same meeting that brought him to tears, when the defender had only 15 minutes to see his son.
One day Anatolii gifted his family some jewelry. Since then, the earring in his ear always reminds Dania of his father. His sister keeps the other one.
Anatolii was killed during a tank attack in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv region at the age of 42.
Dania told his story of loss as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation project "Peaceful Recreation for the Children of Ukraine".
