Iryna Klymova has headed the Sholem Aleichem Museum since 2008. She is an artist, an art historian, and the author of numerous articles about Jewish artists of Ukraine. With the beginning of the full-scale war, her main mission became the preservation of the museum’s exhibition. Iryna recalls how already in May 2022, despite the war, the museum reopened its doors to visitors – and people literally poured in. The war sharpened the need for culture and memory, so the museum not only survived but continues to develop, creating new projects that bring support and meaning.
