On the first day russians entered the village of Lukashivka, the Boiarchenko family's house was shelled. Missiles were flying overhead, and all the buildings in the yard were on fire. Kateryna and her husband tried to pull at least some property out of the flames.Â
The morning after the fire, russians came with a search. And after them came a small group of Ukrainian military who survived the fierce battle with the invaders. The couple knew the area well and showed the defenders the way out of the encirclement.Â
A few days later, russians broke into the house again. The invaders' commander ordered to demolish the couple's house and the neighbor's house within 25 minutes! Because it was these houses that prevented russians from creating a favorable position. Kateryna rushed to read prayers and sprinkle the houses with holy water. They did not stop even when a sniper opened fire on the woman.
