On February 24, Anna and her sister were in Kyiv. Their parents were in Mariupol. The sisters withdrew money, stocked up on medicines, and went to Kirovohrad region. They contacted their parents on the way. They said they had bought them tickets for February 25. On that day, their parents boarded the train. But it did not leave. They returned home under the sound of shelling.
"The train was at the station. There was shelling. There were battles near Volnovakha. And no one left. Then we bought tickets for February 26. But there was no train. We lost contact with our parents on March 2.
My sister's husband and I decided to go to Mariupol to get them.
We saw cars shot on the highway. It was impossible to get to Mariupol. At the checkpoint in Manhush, we were told that our car would be nationalized. We paid money to be allowed to leave", - Anna, a resident of Kyiv, said.
