In the first days of the full-scale war, the Dubina family lived through shelling and days spent in a basement. Nataliia’s pregnancy unfolded in constant fear and tension, and her baby was born prematurely. From the very beginning, little Bohdanchyk had to fight serious challenges: he had problems with his legs, difficulties with movement, and later doctors discovered severe hearing loss. At the age of three, Bohdan still didn’t speak and barely reacted to sounds. The harsh wartime conditions added to the parents’ struggles, and treatment had almost exhausted the family’s resources.
A turning point came when Bohdan received hearing aids — they opened the possibility for him to develop speech and take new steps in rehabilitation. Thanks to this help, the boy heard his family’s voices for the first time and began responding to his name. He will now attend a specialized kindergarten and begin to speak. The family received assistance through the program “Rinat Akhmetov for Children. Now I Can Hear.”
