"In order not to come under fire, my daughter has to go through the garden to get to school"

After my husband died in an accident, I was left alone with three children. We do not have job offers here in Mariinka. I am a cook with many years of experience. I love to cook cakes, which all children appreciate.

My older children are the adults now. They have already left to study, and the younger Veronika is still with me.

A line of demarcation is 200 meters from our house.

My daughter has to go to school not through our alley but through the kitchen garden, so as not to come under fire.

Four local residents have already been wounded in the alley.
