Piskivka is a village in the Kyiv region where Svitlana’s family came to hide from the fighting on the first day of the war. And, as in most stories, the fighting quickly reached the village, which seemed safe. Rockets were flying over the houses, shells were falling, and people were dying.

As a local deputy, Svitlana did her best to provide not only for her fellow villagers but also for the refugees who flowed through Piskivka. More than 1,000 people from Borodianka alone were accepted here. They found clothes and food for those who had lost everything. Piskivka received humanitarian aid from western Ukraine and abroad.

On March 4, Svetlana’s pregnant daughter left for Poland. On March 13, she left as well - most of the population left Piskivka, and arrivals began directly behind the house where she lived.
