Vasyl Dobrianskyi is a Ukrainian writer, historian, author of more than 10 books, eight of which were published during the full-scale war. He is 70 years old, lives near Ivano-Frankivsk. The war started when he was at home, and during the first days he helped his fellow writers from Kharkiv find shelter in western Ukraine.
Dobrianskyi is known for his historical novels. He also wrote about the Napoleonic Wars, the Battle of Konotop, exploring historical parallels between the past and the modern war. He is studying history to better understand the nature of Russian aggression. The writer is convinced: every Ukrainian must work for victory, and his path is recording and explaining the dramatic experience of the people in his books.
