The bodies of Olga Sukhenko, her husband Igor and son Alexander with traces of brutal torture were found in a mass grave.

There are enemy rascals in our village. Be careful

On February 27, Olha Sukhenko, the mayor of Motyzhyn village, wrote on her Facebook page, “Dear villagers. There are enemy rascals in our village. Be careful. Don’t leave your houses. Stay calm.”

On March 23, the Russian military came to their home. At first, they searched the house, took their car, and left. Later, the invaders came back to take Olha and her husband. The family’s friends say that the occupiers wanted to take only Olha, but her husband insisted on going with her. Six hours later, they took her son as well.

On April 4, after the territory was liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the bodies of Olha Sukhenko, her husband Ihor, and their son Oleksandr were found in the mass grave, bearing the signs of violent torture.

During the occupation, the village mayor took it upon herself not only to provide for the village but also to play a more risky role - she was helping transmit the information about the location and movements of the Russian troops to the Ukrainian army.

“They were killed for us. They could have left; they had been told at once to move to safer places. Instead, they stayed to help people. Olha Petrivna said, “How can I leave my people?” - the villagers said.

Rest in peace!
