Mykola Semikoz

"We can’t bury him in a civilized way"

Mykola Leontiyovych was killed by the shelling of the Russian army in Severodonetsk, Luhansk region, on March 8, 2022. At first, they were looking for him in the city and on social networks, and then his daughter Maria reported his death.

"One afternoon, he was just walking along the street of his city, where he had been living for about 50 years. We can’t bury him in a civilized way because there is a war in the city. Daddy refused to leave the city. He believed in humanity, in his right to be on his own land."

He was born in 1944 in the town of Krasnodon, Luhansk region, during World War II. An educated and talented engineer, Mykola worked as a woodworker from early morning till late night to provide for us, his kids, to afford quality education for us, and even send us to the seaside to have some rest. He always supported the independence of Ukraine, always appreciated freedom. He is an example of dignity and honesty for his daughter. And of humor and optimism. He was a true friend.

“We will win over these orcs and rebuild your country to be strong and free. Apricots and apple trees will freely give us lots of harvests, and we will take your grandchildren to collect them. I love you very much”.

Rest in peace!
