Civilian Voices. Civilian Roses

Civilian Voices. Civilian Roses

Roses became the symbol of the Museum of Civilian Voices in 2020, before the full-scale invasion began. These flowers were not chosen by chance, because Donetsk is considered the city of a million roses - the heart of Donbas, where the war began. Each rose is a story housed in the Museum of Civilian Voices.

About the project

The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation was the first in Ukraine to initiate the laying of Rose Alleys in the cities that became a "second home" for the civilians of Donbas who were the first to encounter the war. Each Alley was built together with the settlers and became their place of strength. The planted flowers symbolize the stories of civilians whose lives the war divided into before and after.

In 2020, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, together with IDPs, who found their second home in new cities, made the first two Alleys Civilian Voices. Civilian Roses.  One thousand rose bushes were planted in Zaporizhia and Mariupol. Also, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation engaged the children participating in the project Peaceful Summer to plant the Rose Alley in Sviatohirsk.

In 2021, new Rose Alleys will appear on the map of Ukraine, in Vinnytsia and Kharkiv cities..

We would like to see the Alleys Civilian Voices. Civilian Roses” blooming in every corner of Ukraine.
