All our life we have been building our house, everything was fine. And suddenly everything was destroyed.
I rarely go into my own house, everything there reminds me of that August night in 2014. There are cracks on the walls, smashed furniture and our old clock where the hands stopped. Then the residential quarters of Maryinka were shelled by artillery. And one of the shells exploded near our house. Knocked out the wall. My wife and I miraculously survived. Everything in the house burned out.
Last winter we spent the in a nursing home. And this year we returned to the ruins. We live in a closet that used to be a chicken house. Now it is a living room, a bedroom, and a kitchen.
Dinner has to be be prepared before the evening - then the shelling begins. And we run to the basement. There we have a homemade bed and warm clothes are always ready. We know that there is shelling from 7 to 9 pm, so we are ready. But the streets are also dangerous during the day.
