Karina and her twin sister Alina live in the frontline town of Selydove. It is a small mining town that came under devastating shelling in the fall of 2023. The interview with Karina was recorded at the Emerald City Social Rehabilitation Center. Once the full-scale war started, the center was relocated from Sviatohirsk to the western region of the country. Children from the frontline towns of Donbas come here to restore their strength and health. Here they study and celebrate. For most of them, the center is an island of safety, at least for a while.
