Svitlana remembers what happened at the Kyiv railway station in early March 2022 in detail forever. An atmosphere of fear, a huge crowd, a real assault on evacuation trains. Families saying goodbye to their men. Those who did not have a seat and were knocking on the closed door of the carriage. 16 people in overcrowded compartments. And the inability to go to the toilet. It was a stressful experience.
Malyi Rozhyn, a village in the mountains of Ivano-Frankivsk region, became a refuge for Svitlana and her two sons. It left behind only fond memories and new friends.
Now Svitlana works at the Maksym Rylsky Museum in Kyiv. It is the work, the events, the people who come to learn about the history of their country that give her strength.
