Svitlana Voloshuk is from Volyn region. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the woman knew almost nothing about Mariupol. But it was her only son who was protecting this city.

"My Mykhailo was very funny and when I think about him, there’s a smile on my face. I often think about how he would say something, how he would react to this or that situation. I seem to consult with him about my actions and deeds. After all, the memory should be carried with dignity and the fight he began for a free and independent Ukraine should be continued," says Svitlana.

Her son died in early March 2022. He was only 20 years old.
