Maryna tried to leave her native Kherson twice. First, she went by bus through Snihurivka, but the convoy was turned back. Then she tried to go through Davydiv Brid, where there was already a front line, but the convoy was also turned back. The route was very long. Previously, it was about 250 kilometers to get from Kherson to Odesa, which took 3-4 hours. Back then, to get to Odesa, which was free from the occupiers, you had to go a thousand kilometers and spend three days on the road.
